Remember this one from Seinfeld? Kramer wanted a holiday everyone could celebrate, not Christmas or Hanukkah or Kwaanza, so he made up Festivus as a non-denominational holiday. Actually, I never watched Seinfeld, but my brother was a rabid Seinfeld fan, so I used to get regular reports and play by play recaps.

It's also National Pfeffernuesse Day. Now I come from a German/Irish/American Indian background, so both sides of my family make these. I hate them. Cookies are not supposed to have pepper in them. Not only that, but I like soft chewy cookies, and when my mother makes them they're hard enough you can use the leftover ones to fill holes in your driveway.

It's also Roots Day. Not the miniseries. You're supposed to explore your family geneology and family tree and so forth. One of my aunts brags about how her grandpa was the first notary public in town and organized the first volunteer fire department. She just leaves out the part about how he was also the head of the local KKK chapter. One day I might have to look further into our family tree to see what other interesting characters we have.

Happy Wednesday and the clock is ticking to get all the baking, shopping, and cleaning done!!!

Good Morning everyone! Thanks for all the great information about today. I have an aunt that is very into genealogy. I wish I could say that for both sides of my family, but one side is very secretive.
Have a great day!

I was never much of a Seinfeld fan myself, but what's another holiday? LOL

Happy day to you all-no matter what you celebrate!

And I am all over finding your roots-mine just seem to end at a dead-end and have been pretty unsuccessful the past few years.
