Today is Guardian Angel Day. No further info available, so I don't know if it means you're supposed to thank your guardian angel, be one to someone else, or if it's referring to the street patrol group of the same name. My great grandma used to have this picture hanging in her living room.

It's also Name Your Car Day. My car's name is the Silver Bullet.

(yes, that's actually my car sitting at the dealership before I bought it) Every car we've ever had has been named. For some reason, both sides of my family have had a think about it. And most of them, in some warped way, make sense. We had a truck named Midnight because what else would you call that much black in one place? We had a Lincoln named Abraham. Sad but true, when my ex husband and I met, I was driving a 63 Corvair named Burt while he had a Dodge truck named Ernie.
It's also National Denim DAy. I think every day should be denim day.
It's the 38th anniversary of the opening of Disney World in Florida. Sing along with me: "It's a world of laughter, a world of cheer..."
In food today, it's Fried Scallops Day. I can do that. I love seafood. They're better broiled, but fried is ok too. But not for breakfast, so how about Panera bagels?
TGIF!
I'm with you on the denim....I live in jeans lol!
My cars have all had names too....not that I've had many, I've only been driving 10 years lol....there was a mini called Daisy (she was small and white, and eidelweiss was too long lol), a renault called Roxy, funnily enough...that name was inherited from the previous owner though! And a 1970 bright yellow volkswagen beetle called Jasmine!
I'd love to think I have a guardian angel....although I they were on a day off when I crashed my renault lol!
And as for seafood... urgh!!! I can't stand it!! So I'll have potato scallops day.....(potatoes sliced thin and fried for those who don't know - and you'd be surprised how many don't lol!)
Wow....I was 2 when they opened Disney World!! I went there in 2001 - we flew home exactly a week before 9/11...we had originally planned to go a week later, but changed our plans at the last minute before booking....I think my guardian angel was definitely looking out for me that day!!
Hope you're all having a good day!!

What a momementous day this is with all of this info!!
I have been being a guardian angel, of sorts, with my neighbor's family who have been dealing with Domestic Violence with a daughters BF. When the daughter had finally had enough, I took her to get the rest. order and have him served. Two nights ago he showed up at their house (when they finally got to go home because the law in Oregon says after THREE days of staying at someone's house you are a resident and they could not kick him out w/out an eviction notice...and they were afraid of him and his brother) and I had to call 911 and have them come to take him away. The parents weren't home and the daughter was really confused and distraught.
Today we are going to the courthouse to file for custody. The RO says he can have supervised visitations with the baby, which (CALL ME CRAZY) I said I would supervise.
While taking them to victim services at the courthouse I decided I needed to volunteer there myself, so I am now an advocate and counselor one day a week-since I work a 40 hr week already at the Vet. Hosp...I was in a DV marriage for 16 yrs and I ended it almost 7 yrs ago. So I have a lot of experience in all of the emotions, anger and legal system.
WHEW-I am tired just thinking about it!! LOL
My license plates on my car say NTYLDY...DH tried to get CRZSQW and the DMV told him it was a violation against Native Americans, which is funny because that is what I am and I REALLY wanted it!! LOL
Scalloped potatoes are totally yummy, Roxy-you should try them with cheese and a white sauce baked in the oven, and sometimes with ham!! MMMMMMM
Have a GREAT morning everyone! :)

Howdy y'all! My guardian angel is my dad who died when I was 12. I know he has gotten me out of many a scrape in my younger, wilder days. He also sent me the best baby from Heaven!
I used to name my cars, but alas my little hybrid Civic remains nameless, I will have to ponder on that one today.
Roxy it sounds like your guardian angel makes it for the big stuff like 9/11 but misses the smaller stuff like your Renault. Maybe your angel has ADHD! :) LOL
Becki, good for you for being a DV survivior and in turn a guardian angel to others going through the same thing. It is hard work caring for those who are not presently in a place to care for themsleves and thank God you are there for your neighbor's family.
Not a fan of seafood and scallops in particular, but LOVE scallpoed potatoes.
I must've subconcisouly know it was denim day because I wore jeans today and that is not something I do normally!
Hope everyone is having a great day!

Funny thing...today SHOULD BE dress down day at work, which means I'd be in jeans, but we're having a board meeting today so I am in heels (and that NEVER happens). Also interesting, one of the things we're eating today (the Board has their meal catered and includes us in the head count) is seafood cassarole which has scallops in it :)
I must have a Guardian Angel because I'm still here and breathin' :)

You and me both, Julie! I'm getting a bunch of laundry done cause the munchkin and I are going to my mom's for the weekend. So, I have to wait on that to take a shower and, there's no point in getting dressed if you're taking a shower later!! LOL
I will be doing the Relay for Life tomorrow with my mom. We did it last year, shortly after her mastectomy so, it will be nice doing it with her full of energy!
I must have a guardian angel because I've never had to go through any major trama. My son is the one with a great angel! When he was born (via c-section) his umbilican cord was tied in a true knot. Yet, he came out perfect in every way! That's one of those things that could have been very bad!
I love scallops but, hubby isn't a seafood person so, I very rarely get any! But, scalloped potaos are a fave of everyone in the house!! YUMMY

Roxy - I think the guardian angel getting you home before 9/11, he or she should get a pass on the renault. LOL
Becki - I think that's too funny that the license plate you wanted was supposed to be offensive to Native Americans, which you are. My stepdad who passed away in April was 1/2 Native American and he got a lot more offended over other people being so politically correct than he did over all the things *they* thought should offend him.
Chris - it's a hybrid. The Mule?
Athena - just remember, stiletto heels, if you throw them right, get that boomerang effect.
Julie - thanks for not turning on the webcam. ;)

Glad to do my little bit, Kelly :)
My house is almost tidy. I was going to say clean, but I'd never pass a white glove test. Tidy makes DH happy, and I see no reason to push beyond the requirements, ROFL.
I'm the same as you Julie...as long as it's tidy, who's going to mind a bit of dust, right? lol!
I don't know what time it is where you all are, but it's 9.20pm here, so I guess it's only right that I'm dressed really lol!!!
Becki - those potatoes sound yummy!! Will have to give them a try!
It must be an English thing, coz over here you say scalloped potatoes and everyone is like 'huh?' lol! So glad you all know what I'm talking about!
And yeah, I guess I'll let my Guardian Angel off for the Renault....lol!!!
