Talk Like A Pirate Week is over for another year, and we've sent the crew searching for the newest POTC film until next year. But don't worry, there will still be lots of fun around here.

Hidey Ho! Today is Good Neighbor Day.

Today's useless information:
According to the show, Wilson's greeting was the dying words of a Mara Masai Chieftain he met while on his travels. Now how did he meet a Mara Masai Chieftain who spoke English?

Mr. Rogers was a Presbyterian minister who wrote all the music for the show and 200 other songs. His car was stolen once from the tv station. Two days later, the car was left in exactly the same place, with a note on the dash apologizing and saying that if they knew whose car it was, they never would have taken it. And all of the sweaters he wore on the show were made by his mother.

In food, it's Pancake Day! So we have light, fluffy pancake with assorted syrups, fresh fruit, and whipped cream to go on top.

It's also the anniversary of the release of The Rocky Horror Picture Show. For any of you who haven't seen it, here's my children's favorite video, also known as What Happens When Geeks Have Way Too Much Free Time.

And for any of you who are feeling nostalgic feel free to sing along with everyone's favorite neighbor.

Happy Saturday!

What a perfect day! I'm taking photos of my neighbor's 1 yo today. It's supposed to be 70 F today, which after a week in the low 50's, will feel like paradise.

Off now to treat my dd to her last day without her sister. Maybe I'll make some pecan pancakes. Or better yet, maybe we'll go out for breakfast! The local cafe serves record (as in music on a vinyl disc) sized pancakes and they're only $1!

Hoping to make the speed scrap tonight. DH is going to our summer pasture to check cows and thought he might stop in on the Pheasant's Forever Banquet near there. With that, and the Husker game starting @ 6, I should be safe for a little bit. Maybe Lisa will post the instructions early so I can cheat and get a head start.:fairy: Hint hint.:ninjalove:

Enjoy your weekend everyone!

LOL...when I read the title of the post, his song instantly came to mind and has been singing in my head!!

I love the historical info about him, he was a little 'odd' but a great guy and was good for the kids back in the day!!

Sounds like a great day for a pancake breakfast while watching Rocky Horror.

For any Buffy fans out there, did you know the actor who played Giles once starred as Dr. Frankenfurter in a stage production of Rocky Horror? I have a pic saved somewhere of him in costume. Its a far cry from the Giles character!

Wish I could make the speed scrap tonight, but I have an event I'm volunteering at so won't be around. Hope everyone has a great time as usual!

Oh Roxy, you have been so deprived! Mr Rogers hosted a children's program that ran from the late 60s to the early 90s. His trademark was that he came into a house, changed his jaket and his shoes (and always put them away!) and then changed back and left when the show was over. He was very paternal and frequently used puppets to tell stories with lessons. He would also take his audience on tours of factories and such to show how things were made or whatever. He saved the VCR because in the mid 80s the motion picture industry wanted to stop viewers from being able to record programs and movies because they thought it would cut into their profits. Mr Rogers made a very stirring speech to Congress about how much better the world would be if parents would record programs and watch them with their children and talk about them. It was a really nice thought anyway.

Yummy, pancakes!! Now, whether to choose boysenberry syrup or strawberries and whipped cream, that is my question!! :)

I should be at the SS tonight unless we have company but, to the best of my knowledge, we won't have any until tomorrow!
