As most of you probably already know, I have decided after long deliberation to retire as a designer so I can concentrate on my PGCE course that starts in just over a week. For those not in the UK - a PGCE is a year long postgrad course in teacher training.
Please answer question(s) in this thread!
I will be teaching 11-18 year olds. Can anyone guess what subject I am going to teach?
What was your favourite subject at school? Did you have a subject you hated?
And I will be giving away random prizes - a product of your choice (can even be commerical use) from my store. If you have already purchased my entire store for the bargain price of $30 (*shameless advertising plug*) then I probably have a few things lurking on my harddrive that I can send you :D
(designers and creative team please feel free to join in - but if I have told you what I am going to teach, please keep it under your hat!)

You will be missed!! I am not sure what you are going to teach (if it was said, I missed it) - My guess is Math because that was my favorite subject. I hated science (except geology stuff) and history because those are not my strong points.
Best of luck!!

If it was me I would be doing math too. That was always my favorite.

Oh, I'm so sorry to see you go, but I'm excited for you and your wonderful opportunity. Here are my guesses.
1. I'm guessing you will be teaching a Science class.
2. My favorite subjects were math and science. I had the best Chemistry teacher ever. Very odd, but a fun odd. He had what he called a "Zambeze Blow Gun" and he would bet kids (for grades) that he could hit a specific element on the element chart in the back of the room. The chart was very small and the room was very long...and I never saw him lose. He also crossbred his own strain of hot peppers. They were very small but very hot. He told everyone the first day of class that if they could eat one and not leave the room for water they could have an automatic A. I personally saw 3 people try it and none of them succeeded. One of them only bit the size of a pin head off and had to leave immediately.
3. I didn't really HATE any subject, but I extremely disliked AP American History. The teacher was boring and his tests were killer.....most were multiple choice, but they were multiple multiple choice so that made them quite difficult.
And thank you for the reminder...I was trying to fill my cart with your things the other night and I was having no luck so I'm off to try again. (After I go to the bank that is!:))

Are you going to teach history? My brother is a high school history teacher.
My favorite subject was Latin. (Yes, I know, I'm a geek) and I hated physics. Really hated. Which was weird because I loved biology and chemistry. I guess it was because physics is so concrete. Another one of those right brain things.

Annette - I had a biology teacher like that. He lived on a boat and taught us how to make spud guns. (You know, if I had learned that in physics, which would have made more sense, I probably wouldn't have hated that class the way I did LOL) He also had a pet ball python that had babies. He gave them to his students after making you raise your right hand and solemnly swearing "I will love him and squeeze him and sing to him and call him ______." insert whatever crazy name he gave baby snake there, such as Iron Man or Herbert. Funny thing, most of them came back the next day. A week or so later, they got out of the cage, and for weeks, baby snakes popped up in odd places at school and scared the crap out of unsuspecting students and teachers.
:sign: Sorry Kanga, you can have it back now.

oh, I was never yet able to work with your items, so I am quite sad!
okay, let me think....hm.....I am going to guess that you will be teaching English since everything else was guessed? hahahaha.
It is really really hard to pick a favorite since I loved all of school. But, I will have to say my favorite was Math as well. I still love math. lol
Now, for a least favorite - that is hard. hm....gym? i hated gym in high school - was such a waste for us since we were all in some sort of sport?
Hugs Sarah! we love you!

I was also going to guess math, though I don't know why. It just popped into my head, and when that happens, I go with it!
My favorite subjects were math and orchestra. Oddly though, I got my best grades in English and literature even though I didn't enjoy the classes at all. I'm home-schooling my daughter and she's only 6 but I can tell already that she's going to be the opposite. She loves reading and language and can't stand math. Weird how that works out. :)

I think Annette was closest with science as I will be teaching mainly physics, with some chemistry and possibly even a little biology!
So I'll be pmming Annette with her prize, and because I enjoyed reading all your replies (especially the funny ones!) I will be pmming you all a litttle something!

:fairy: woo hoo! I guess I did get my wish! I just had to wait a week for it, but it was worth it!!! Thanks Kanga.:ninjalove:
History?? My first guess would have been math-that's what I taught-way back when-lol-but no one else has said history. Whatever it is I'm sure you will be good at it!

I'm going to guess art seeing as I already know you have an artistic side.
And my favorite in school was indeed art. I took every art class I could work into my schedule.
Least favorite....MATH! I hated math. And Science was a close second because of the formulas. The only Science I ever liked was Biology...get it?...No formulas in that one.
Want to hear the irony in that? I do accounting now! LOL I got this job opportunity I couldn't say no to and I now do taxes and bookkeeping. All about math. Go figure.

Wll Danielle -I'm the opposite - everyone I know now thinks I'm an art person - I do this, make my own cards and am known to do lots of crafty stuff with my kids...
...But I'm a scientist at heart - I did physics, chemistry and maths at A level and then a degree at Durham University in the Physics and Chemistry of Materials, followed by 5 years doing research into washing powders and fabric conditioners trying to find a way to stop creasing so people would never have to iron again!
So I'm off to teach physics ... well, science in general, specialising in physics.
Thank you for sharing, I'll be sending a coupon your way!

Thank you for your kind words ladies :)
yes, I was intending the sale to go on till the end of the month; I start tomorrow and the list of things I need to buy is scary - so I quite understand the lack of $ problem.
In fact, if anyone is having a lack of $ problem and wants to buy my store - pm me! First 5 people with a polite pm will get a $5 coupon off my buy-my-store promotion, bringing it down to $25 :)
