Today is International Women's Day. Shouldn't they all be?
It's Farmer's Day.

Awww. I wanna go give him a hug. Annette, does hubby look like that?
It's Be Nasty Day. Ok, but if you do, that means you can't be for the other 364.
It's Fun Facts About Names Day. My eyes are Kelly Green. Really. So what kinda fun stuff can you tell us about your name?
It's Nut Cluster Day. Can we get them chocolate dipped and hidden in ice cream?
Jenjen asked for more pictures of Gerard in the morning post. So just for her, here is Gerard Depardieu.

Sorry Jen, that one must be an aquired taste. I'd rather stick with cowboys. Or firemen.

Well, he's usually sportin' a six pack but I've never seen it near his abs!
My name....my parents both had the same middle name. I do too but it's spelled differently than theirs. Oh, and like Kelly's dad, my dad hated the name Annette. My parents divorced before I was a year old so I think (this has never been confirmed) it was my mom pushing the knife in harder.
My oldest sister has a good name story. My dad made up her middle name: Quisette. She must have liked it because she gave her first daughter the same middle name. Our whole family seems to fill the middle name spots with family names for some reason. Out of 7 children, 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren only 2 of the original children have names uniquely theirs.

To be honest, Nut Cluster Day pretty much describes my family, so we'll just leave it at that and I'll stop typing and look at the pretty pictures :)

uhm, I was supposed to be Sarah Grace...but somehow my parents looked at me all 8.11 pounds of me and it didn't fit. That Girl was just ending or beginning and Marlo Thomas was the rage...so Anne Marie is my name...the whole thing. No middle it is one name...totally confusing to people so I dropped the Marie and then fought everyone who would call me ANNiE...or spelled it without the E. Go figure....so now only my mom and dad call me Anne Marie.
???International Woman's Day??? is that just for woman of internationalness?? that title throws me
now eye candy is nice, but just the eyes with or without make up of Johnny Depp can make this ol' lady smile! for a while! :)

HAHA I agree w/ Julie Nut Cluster day pretty much sums up my family as well!!
My name though is all completely made up. My mom and Aunts all came up with it while my mother was going through the excruciating 3 day @ home labor it took to have me. Now I don't quite remember the details of HOW they came up with Ariane but now that I am an adult I LOVE that I have such a unique name. My middle name is just as unique but ummm we'll leave it at that lol.
Ahh anyway I need to go be productive and fold some laundry *sigh*

Kelly, that was just mean on so many levels!! My eyes are burning and it's not ion a good way! :)
My name would have been Jamie whether I was a boy or girl, I'm named after my dad, James. Not sure what my middle name would have been as a boy but, I got a family name. It's ok though, if we have a little girl, she'll get my middle name. My son has my grandfather and cousin's middle name. As for mine, it's also my mom's was a g-grandmother, and is my MIL's middle names. Anne, my grandmother doesn't have a middle name either, her first name is just Mary Jane.
Mmmm, nut clusters.. Yummy! Ok, off to start the scalloped potatoes and ham for dinner and thinking about making choc chip cookies and some banana bread... MY house should be smelling yummy today! :)

My DH only has a middle initial. His brother and sister only have middle initials as well. It's a total pain from a "legal name" standpoint.

Hmm . . .fact about my name. . .my mom has this theory that children should be named what they were going to be called so my legal name is actually Candy, not Candice or Candace or some other form of it. I get called that often though. I also get called Cindy frequently. The only thing I can figure out with that one is because people assume if you have a cndy in your name it must be Cindy when they read it.
When my niece was named Skilea (prounced sky-lee) I asked my Mom if they just put letters in a hat and drew them out. Poor child is going to have to spell her name her whole life. :)

The story of my children's names - Austin was going to be Andrew, which is a family name on my side. But then one night during Touched By an Angel, I leaped off the couch and hysterically screamed "I can't name my baby after the angel of death!!!" My ex kept telling me it was just a television show, but it was one of those pregnant woman freak out moments that only other mothers can understand, so the child ended up named Austin instead. We did not know anyone named Austin. There were 3 in his kindergarten class of 18 kids.
Kenlie got her name because one of her grandfathers was named Ken and the other's middle name was Kenneth. Her middle name is Aren, (pronounced Erin) because my grandmother's maiden name was Arends. My mother threw a fit and didn't speak to me for three months because she wanted me to name her Kathryn and call her Katie. In my family, we have three Kathryns, one Katherine, one Kathleen, one Mary Kathryn, one Amy Katherine, one Noami Kathryn, and one Kaitlyn. So no, I was not going to subject my child to what I went through as a kid, because I had a cousin who was also named Kelly.
Paul was determined from the moment I found out I was pregnant with #3 that his name was going to be Dakota. I nicknamed him Kody. Paul didn't like it. He's still Kody to me and Dakota to Paul. If he had lived, there's no telling what the child would have ended up being called.

Name fact for me...my parents wanted to name me Alice (for a friend of my mother's) if I was a girl and Ichabod if I was a boy. Yes, I am completely serious. So they could call me "Icky" for short.
My name is Lynn Heather and I am FROM Lynn, MA - that was bad enough.....

Hmmmmm....the Heather doesn't "fit" for me for you (do I sound like Randy Jackson?), but I'm SOOOOO glad you weren't a boy!!
My sister's middle name is Alice as was my paternal grandmother's.

Well, one fun fact is that Jennifer was the most popular name for girls from the late 1960's through the early 80's! Ugh! In my little tiny high school, there were about 6 of us out of a graduating class of 115 or so. My husband is Scot with one "t", so he always gets comments about that. He just says his dad was drunk when he was filling out the birth certificate paperwork. :)

When my mother was in home ec. in school she made a blanket and said when I have a daughter her name will be Alexandra Xandra for short, so there you go and as far as the twins go
Nicholas wasn't even on our list ( we had a list of like 5 names and we thought we would wait till they were born to see what they looked like) I was drugged up pretty good but I was like hmmm none of the names are him and Adam said he is a Nicholas and I said yep, his middle name is my middle name which is my mother's maiden name, her brother died very young and we are the last so its our way of carrying on the family name.
and Victoria, well they whisked her to the childrens hospital in STL so the next day when adam went I told him he had to pick her name from the 2 we had chosen, elizabeth or victoria, so he asked every NICU nurse hat she was and everyone said Victoria...he said yep that is what I thought, so he called me and said Victoria I did a little happy dance in my head because that was what I had wanted, and Adam wouldn't allow me to give her the same middle name (which is what me and my brother have) so Paige it was.

I have no idea where my name comes from. But I do know that I would have been a Sam even if I was a boy. As for my kids. Patrick is named after his grandma Patricia.
Amanda is named after my sister who passed away and her middle name is Lynn so we covered everyone on her dads side cause all the girls have the middle name Lynn.
Oh and I have a sister that is named Jenny. Not jenifer just jenny. She also does not have a middle name. My other sister Racheal uses the name Jack. Why you ask well because her last name is Hoff. (Jack Hoff)

:coffee: one of my guy friends in jr. high school was Matt Cox. His friends called him Harry (or is that Hairy?) I didn't get it for the longest time because my uncle's last name was Cox and his first name was Richard. And yes....he went by Dick.
I also went to school with Pennie Nickles, River Hudson and Dusty Rhodes. Oh and Miss Hand married Mr. Foote.

My older daughter had a friend in high school named Ashleigh Pickar. The joke was that if Ashley married a boy in their class named John Hiney, and hyphenated - she'd be Ashleigh Pickar-Hiney. And of course 14-year-olds think that is absolutely hilarious :)
I don't really have any complaints about mine, other than people trying to spell it with a y. Which is pretty much July and not Julie, LOL.

I wasn't even thinking about kid's names when I typed earlier. My son got his name from a sandwich shop we happened to be parked next to when we stopped to fuel up the car one day.
