August 24 - Happy National Peach Pie Day

My granny makes some awesome peach pie, and today we have a counter full of them. With vanilla ice cream to go on top of course, and if you'd really like a gourment treat, drizzle a little caramel sauce over the top. http://www.clipartof.com/images/emoticons/xsmall2/1137_licking_lips.gif
For breakfast, it's National Waffle Day, so choose your toppings. I think I'll have a chocolate chip pecan waffle with maple syrup.

It's also Vesuvius Day, the 1930th anniversary of Pompei and Herculaneum being wiped out by the volcano, and Knife Day. I won't even make any suggestions on how to celebrate that one. http://www.clipartof.com/images/thumbnail/210.gif

MMMMM....pecan waffles for me and peach pie ala mode for dessert. The local Lions club just delivered our fresh peaches last week so a homemade pie might be in order. If there are any leftovers I'll leave them in here. (But I wouldn't hold your breath).

I think I'll just save time and calories and drizzle the caramel sauce on my tongue. Or maybe there needs to be a caramel macchiato in my day...

Mmmm... I'l take a waffle with some strawberries and whipped cream, please!! I'll have my peach pie later today! I wish we could celebrate first day of school here but, we have 3 more years til that one! I am feeling like I need to take the day to recover from our weekend road trip! So, I think a mid morning bath is in my future, as soon as I can drag hubby's butt out of bed!

I would love to have some homemade peach cobbler. My mom and I tried a new recipe recently and it was so good. I should make that! Not sure about the knife day......hmmmmm. Oh, and the first day of school being a holiday for moms...I have mixed feelings - I am a mom and a teacher. :)
