Each month we have  some challenges that change monthly and only run from the 15th to the end of the month…those are the Variety Pack Challenges, and you can find those here.

Today I will share a couple of those challenges with you here, and hopefully you will join in on all of the fun!

Font Challenge
Hosted by myself, Becki (crazsquaw)

You get to choose the font you will use on your page, BUT it has to be a NEW FREE font for your page, and it can be more than one!
When you upload your page to the forum, you will also need to share a link to your new font(s) so we can all go check them out too.

Your posting bonus for the Font Challenge is a mini by Alexis~Designs, which is part of the Let Freedom Ring collab.

Just Plain Braggin’
Hosted by Claudia (mrscwooddell)

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to use the kits provided to create a badge album page or two if you prefer, in ‘quick page’ form.
{Badge album pages are 2.5″ wide and 3.25″ tall }

Post your page in the gallery under Variety Pack Challenges and share it in the forum for us to see and so we can leave you some love!

Then email the .png file to Claudia as a quick page format, and at the end of the challenge she will zip them all up and email you the links to all the pages!
How cool is that?!

You ALSO will get this for your participation bonus, by Starving Artist Designs.

We’ve also got our regular challenges that run from the beginning to the end of the month.  Stay tuned to our blog in future weeks as we share with you about the other regular challenges that you can take part of every month and earn some fabulous prizes just for playing along. Or go ahead and get started by checking them out on your own here.

I hope to see you in the Challenge Forum, and in the gallery…and remember,  just have FUN!

This post is part of a series on our blog that will introduce you to the designers and team members that work behind the scenes at Plain Digital Wrapper to make it a fun-loving, digi-family. We would love to get to know you better as well, so if you aren’t already hanging out with us in the forum, please take a moment to say good morning to us, introduce yourself, and find some inspiration from our many challenges!

This week’s spotlight is on Xandra of Starving Artist Designs. Xandra join the PDW team in the spring of 2009. She first joined the team as a creative team member before signing on as a designer. Before delving into the world of digital design, Xandra was both a digital and paper scrapper before designing and has not abandoned her love of paper scrapping. She said she loves using her hands and creating layered, and textured layouts and getting messy by inking, and glittering, and distressing items. You can follow Starving Artist Designs on her blog here.

Here is what Xandra had to share with us:

Were you named after any one? I was not named after anyone, however,  in 7th grade Home Ec my mother had to sew a blanket. While making the baby blanket she decided when she had a girl her name would be Alexandra,  Xandra for short. So here I am.

Do you sing in the shower/car?  Yes. I sing in both the shower and car, I sing like my life depends on it. It is bad. Not pretty at all.

What are your favorite colors. Eggplant, Green, Cream, Black. It’s no wonder those are pretty much my wedding colors.

Wii, Playstation, X-box or No, thank you?  I love all three! We have a Playstation 2, and a Wii. I would love an X-box  with Kinect though.

What are your hobbies or pastimes? Scrapbooking. Is there another type of hobby?

If you were stranded on a deserted island, who would you want to be there with you?  Adam, and our kids, also I would kill for a teleporter  so that other family members could come and go, but I wouldn’t have to be stuck with anyone.

What would you do with a million dollars?  I would save some for the kids college funds. I would purchase 2 new, problem free cars, Adam his zero-turn lawn mower, and I would pay for our wedding in full, in advance!

What super hero power would you most like to have? I would love mind reading, or flight.

Who is/was your nemesis?  Time is the ultimate nemesis

You just inherited the Witch’s Candy House from Hanzel and Gretel, what do you do now? Personally, I would have to turn it over to the FTBI (Fairy Tale Beauro of Investigation), because if she has tried to capture and eat 2 little kids, she has probably done it before. It probably wasn’t her first time making Johnny Stew, if you know what I mean. Once the FTBI made their sweep and found the families of the other ‘missing’ kids, I would probably auction the house off piece by delicious piece and share some of the profits with the families. Then with the rest of the money,  go buy a new house somewhere in fairytale world, although where?

Not by Jack–I mean yes, gardens are beautiful, but who wants to look out their window and see a huge chopped down beanstalk with a dead giant decomposing next to it? So that’s out of the question…hmmm Rapunzel? No! Have you seen how much that girl sheds? Seriously she loses one hair and your front yard is covered in a tangled mess.

Cinderella, is up waay too early singing, no one should be THAT chipper THAT early.

Snow White…hmm. . . living with 7 strange men….no comment.

Sleeping Beauty…she sleeps a lot, so its quite, she has a huge thorn bush all around her castle, so its well guarded, there are friendly animals nearby….yes I think I’ve found it! The perfect spot! Far Far Away here I come! Move over, Sleeping Beauty, I’m moving in!

Have you taken any classes about design or scrapbooking you have found beneficial? I haven’t taken any classes about designing. However I take tons of traditional scrapbooking classes. My future mother-in-law and I go to Creating Keepsakes Conventions twice a year.

Do you use a tablet when designing? Oh yes, in fact I just got the new Bamboo Craft Touch. I LOVE LOVE LOVE it!

What’s the scene when you design? Music, tv, quiet, clustered or organized and comfy?  I have to have some type of noise while designing, whether that be music or hulu running on my computer. My desk is so cluttered, I know when I can’t find my tablet it is time to clean.

What one type of element can be found in most of your kits? Frames.  That is one of my favorite things about digital scrapbooking, there isn’t  a wide variety of 3-D yet flat frames for traditional scrapbooking.

If you had to have one color in every kit, what color would it be and why? Green. Green can go with anything.

Describe your design style. Eclectic.

Who would your dream collab be with and why? Irene Alexeeva, I simply adore her whimsical, fantasy style.

What is your all-time favorite kit that you have designed and why?  I love my 11-11-11 Kit. I obviously had our upcoming nuptials on the brain. It is elegant and sophisticated, and so scrumptious, with the rich colors and fabulous textures.

Thank you Starving Artist Designs for sharing your creative talents and with Plain Digital Wrapper and making PDW your digi home.

Do you look through the pages of your scrapbook and realize someone is missing? Perhaps you haven’t really taken the time to think about it before. It is very easy to get caught up in scrapping our children, the important events and activities that fill our days, our gardens, our findings on our nature walks, those weekend or vacation trips, even our friends, but how often do we take time to scrap about the person taking the time to capture all these memories, events and emotions?

In our Map of Me Challenge, hostess JenJenJasp challenges us every month to take time and make one layout that is just about us. Jen creates challenges that will help you to dive deep inside your own memories, or personalities, or favorites, or not-so-favorites, and on and on.. . ” Some months the challenges are fun and zany, and some months they are more introspective.

This month, you are challenged to scrap you favorite color. What, you don’t have just one? That’s OK, go ahead and scrap about some of your other “favorites” too. You can find this month’s challenge here.

Did I mention that just for doing the challenge you get a bonus? Paste Optional Designs is our sponsor and creates a new kit each month just for the Map of Me challenge.
