This post is part of a series on our blog that will introduce you to the designers and team members that work behind the scenes at Plain Digital Wrapper to make it a fun-loving, digi-family. We would love to get to know you better as well, so if you aren’t already hanging out with us in the forum, please take a moment to say good morning to us, introduce yourself, and find some inspiration from our many challenges!
This week we are shinning the spotlight on Jennifer, best known around the digital community as Jemy 70.
Jennifer first started as a rubber stamper/card maker back in the mid-90s, and then began paper scrapping after her first son was born in 2001. She admits though that paper scrapbooking was not ever something she enjoyed very much compared to making cards. She switched over to digital scrapbooking a couple years ago after a friend got her interested. She said she didn’t really understand what it was all about but after doing some research, realized most people simply used a program that she had learned for work already, PSE7, which made it an easy transition for her. After about 6 months of digiscrapping, she decided “to be brave” and apply for her first CT. She has been on the site CT for PDW for about a year. Additionally she also is a member of the creative teams for Elise’s Pieces, Sherwood Studio, Spinky Dink Scraps, Rainy Dayz Designs (templates) and Jen C Designs. She is also on the Hybrid Teams of Krisi’s Kreations and Purple Cherry Designs. Her last hybrid project was a Jr. legal pad wrap.
Jennifer shared this about herself:
What was your favorite childhood toy or game? The toys I remember most are my Sunshine Family (kind of like Barbie?s), and the Adventure People sets. One of my favorite games was a memory game called Husker Du.
What flavor of drink would you be? Based on what I drink the most of, I guess I would be water or coffee!
What are your hobbies or pastimes? I enjoy reading, computers, iPod games, cross stitch and movies.
Were you named after anyone? For my middle name, I am named after my aunt. My first name is really common and there always seems to be a ton of Jennifers!
What would you do with a million dollars? I am more of a saver than a spender, but I would probably get a different house since I don?t like our neighbor. I would also want to donate money to a local animal shelter that I do volunteer work for.
What is your favorite snack to scrap with? I try not to eat much right now since I scrap mostly at night during the summer, but when the kids were at school, I like to scrap with my coffee and sometimes a few pieces of chocolate.
Do you sing in the shower or car? I always sing in the car.
What is your favorite color? I like jewel tones and earth tones the most.
You just inherited the Witch’s Candy House from Hanzel and Gretel, what do you do now? I am a real candy-holic, so I would probably eat it!
Wii, Playstation, X-box or No, thank you? I love our Wii! I watch movies from Netflix with it, and also love playing the games. I think I like it more than my kids sometimes. Lol. I especially like the Lego game series. Our newest is Lego Harry Potter.
What PDW designer inspires you the most? What is it you relate to about her designs? I have to say that I have seen kits from all the PDW designers that I love. I can’t pick just one!
What can be found on most of your pages? I almost always have some kind of string or stitching.
What subject(s) do you scrap most? Almost all my pages are of my kids and family members. Some people are really good at the all journaling pages, but that is not my strong point.
What’s the scene when you scrap? I am almost always watching t.v. while I scrap, unless it?s a show Ireally need to concentrate on or a movie with subtitles. If I really need to get things done, I prefer to be by myself with no distractions, but sometimes I do scrap at coffee shops with a friend.
What advice would you give to a new digital scrapbooker? As a new digital scrapper, I really enjoyed doing challenges. It helped me experiment with different techniques and styles. Don’t be afraid to use templates!
Why do you scrap/What keeps you scrapping? I find it relaxing, and I enjoy learning more about Photoshop. I like the fact that I?ll be able to easily make multiple copies of pages for my kids, if they want them!
Do you print your layouts? If so,
a. Book or single pages? I do single pages since I don?t scrap chronologically.
b. 8×8 or 12×12? (or 8.5×11)? I have printed 8X8 and 12X12, but prefer the 8X8.
c. What is your favorite place to print from? I have printed from Persnickety and Scrapping Simply and both were good.
How many layouts do you usually complete in month? I usually average around 20.
How would you describe your scrapbooking style? I prefer to have a lot of photos on my pages. I don’t usually have much journaling?
What style of scrapbooking do you find the most challenging for you and why? For the above reason, I find the one photo pages/white space pages a challenge, although sometimes I do have that one photo I really want to highlight.
